Lesbos?

I was sitting at my desk coloring a Disney princess coloring book page for my little two-year-old neighbor, and then the phone rang. I picked it up and soon found out that it was my friend Ashlen from school. We chatted for a few minutes just like only girls can do and then she said, "Hey, listen the reason I called was because, you know that picture of me and you on the writer's block trip in Hendersonville, in the restaurant you know?"

"Yeah, I think so" I replied.

"Well", she said "I posted it on my MySpace."

After I got the lowdown on what MySpace is and how it works, she continued kind of nervously, "You know Loretta from our Home Ec."

"Yeah", I said again. "Well she wrote a rude comment about us."

"Yeah, what was it?" I inquired.

Then she told it to me really slowly, "Look it's the two A's, and I don't mean names. I hate yall. Yall are Lesbos. Where are your hands Ashlen down Ana's pants? I think so."

I sat there in silence for a few minutes, dumbfounded. Why would she write something like that, I wondered? I had never done anything at all to her.

"Ana you still there."

"Yeah, I just can't believe she would write something like that."

"Yeah, me neither", said Ashlen.

"I asked her to tell me again what she wrote so I could write it down and tell it to my mom, and as she told it to me again, I was even more puzzled. Then Ashlen told me that she had a picture on her MySpace of her in her modeling skirt that came down to her knees, but Loretta wrote, "Could that skirt be any shorter?" Ashlen also told me that she had a picture of her dog on her MySpace and his name under that picture. Her dog's name is Mushu, so Loretta wrote, "Ha, Ha your dog's name sounds like crap on a shoe, Mushu."

To end this and clear up all the unsolved mysteries, I told my mom about this. My mom called Loretta's mom and told her about this, Loretta's mom said that someone had stolen her daughter's password and wrote it and that her daughter never could have written this because she was at a sleepover. Since this still left this problem unresolved, my parent's went to the principal. I never got a straight apology from Loretta, but during math class she mouthed to me, "I'm sorry, but I didn't do it."

In the end our conclusion was correct, she had written the comments. Another girl at the sleepover sent an apology to my friend, Ashlen, via MySpace. Soon after the comment was magically deleted.

My friend, Ashlen, changed after this and I have always wondered if it was the comments that had affected her. She started hanging out with some other people, didn't talk to me as much any more, but would only nod and say hi, and she started wearing more brand name clothes that before she had vowed that she would never wear. I, however, remained the same and even became more so unique because I know that who I am is who I am and nothing can change that.

**This story is completely true however names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty.**
